Transitioning from ISO 9001:2015 to ISO 9001:2026

If you're certified through ISO Accelerator and currently hold ISO 9001:2015 certification, you have until 29th September 2029 (approximately three years from now) to complete your ISO 9001:2026 transition.

Current version of ISO 9001

As of September 2026, the current version of the ISO 9001 standard is ISO 9001:2026.

The current edition was published on 16 September 2026, replacing the previous version of the standard which was known as ISO 9001:2015.

If your organisation is currently certified under the old version of the ISO 9001 standard, you will need to transition to the current version soon. See Transitioning to ISO 9001:2026 for next steps.

Big news for all organisations who hold (or are planning to obtain) ISO 9001 certification: a new version of the ISO 9001 standard is coming soon.

2023 planner

ISO 9001 is a widely-recognised worldwide standard that organisations can use to achieve continuous improvement and demonstrate their commitment to customer satisfaction. In order to achieve ISO 9001 certification, a business must first develop and implement a stringent quality management system (QMS).

Office workplace

The world of work has changed immeasurably since the ISO 9001 standard (formerly known as ISO 9000) was introduced. The very first edition of the global standard was published in 1987, three and a half decades ago - fortunately, updates have been released approximately every seven years since then, the most recent version being ISO 9001:2015.

So ISO 9001 has evolved to keep up with the ever-changing realities of modern business. Nowadays, many companies exist entirely online, with no need for a traditional brick-and-mortar office or shop. If your own business fits this description, you'll be pleased to learn that the current version of the ISO 9001 standard is flexible enough to accommodate you.
